WWE held the post-WarGames edition of NXT on Tuesday, December 8 in a show that centred around the futures of Kyle O'Reilly and Johnny Gargano.

Kyle O'Reilly opened the show with his Steel Cage Match against Von Wagner and the former NXT Tag Team Champion wasted no time in getting to the action, attacking Wagner during the big man's entrance.

The match then got underway and it was revealed the only way to win was by pinfall or submission, no escaping the cage like on the main roster. Both men pummelled each other throughout the contest, but O'Reilly couldn't put his former tag team partner away and Von Wagner caught Kyle with a Low Blow and followed up by drilling O'Reilly's head into the cage before a Double Underhook Suplex for the win.

Wagner's punishment didn't stop here, though, as he repeatedly smashed the cage door into O'Reilly's head after the match while Kyle was trapped in the tree of woe, seemingly writing the former Undisputed ERA man off TV.

Johnny Gargano then ended NXT to address his WWE future.

The former NXT Champion admitted that he wished he spent more time enjoying the last six years, but he just wanted to make sure he gave the fans wrestling they could be proud of. A reflection on his beginnings in NXT then followed before Gargano noted he always felt special in the ring despite his confidence issues.

Many had wondered why Gargano had stayed with NXT for so long, he noted, but Johnny Wrestling truly loved NXT and believed in it. NXT was also his family.

Gargano then addressed his future and admitted that while change is scary, sometimes it needs to happen. He admitted he didn't know what his immediate future was, he might do some things here and there, but what he does know is that he will start the most important job of his life in February, being a dad.

The first NXT Triple Crown Champion then looked set to wrap up his heartfelt promo but Grayson Waller suddenly attacked him from behind with a steel chair before he put Gargano through the announce table. NXT then went off the air after Waller claimed the developmental brand was his house now, not Gargano's.

Away from O'Reilly and Gargano, the fallout from NXT WarGames dominated the episode.

Bron Breakker, who pinned Ciampa at WarGames, noted in a promo that he and The Blackheart were 1-1 and he challenged him to another NXT Championship match. Breakker was interrupted by a Diamond Mine without Roderick Strong, though, and after a back and forth with Malcolm Bivens in which the manager revealed the weight limit had been lifted from the cruiserweight title, a match between Roderick Strong and Bron Breakker was set for next week.

In other future matches, Joe Gacy announced he planned to change the name of 205 Live before revealing Harland would make his in-ring debut next week. Tony D'Angelo will also face Andre Chase next week, while Cameron Grimes and Duke Hudson will look to settle their feud in a No Holds Barred Match on December 14 too.

The feud between Xyon Quinn and Legado del Fantasma also continued on NXT as the former rugby league player faced Santos Escobar. The romance angle between Elektra Lopez and Quinn came to the fore late in the match as she placed brass knuckles on Xyon's hand. All this did was distract Quinn, though, and Santos Escobar took advantage with a Phantom Driver for the win.

Matt Riddle also made his return to NXT, being revealed as MSK's shaman. The Orginal Bro will seemingly be a part of their act going forward as he noted he will be by the tag team's side when they try and win back the NXT Championship.
