Roman Reigns is still the Undisputed WWE Universal champion, after defeating Cody Rhodes in a 34-minute main event at WrestleMania 39 on Sunday night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Late in the match, after Rhodes had hit the Cross Rhodes twice on Reigns, Paul Heyman distracted the referee, allowing Solo Sikoa to hit Rhodes with the Samoan Spike. Reigns then speared Rhodes for the win.
The Usos, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn all got involved late in the match. The Usos interfered first, before Owens and Zayn hit the ring to clear them out. The new Tag Team champions then hit Reigns with their respective Stunner and Heluva kick finishes, but Reigns still kicked out.
Reigns will now have held both championships to the one year mark. His Universal title reign reached 945 days on Sunday, extending his record. He won the belt from The Fiend in a triple threat match at Payback on August 30, 2020.
Reigns' WWE title run will hit 365 days on Monday. He unified the Universal title with the WWE championship he won from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 on April 2, 2022.
