Report: Backstage Reaction To Latest WWE NXT Releases Revealed
Sad and frustrated employees
Jan 7, 2022
In the latest step of WWE moving away from the black-and-gold version of NXT that was active from 2013 until 2021, several behind-the-scenes figures with the developmental brand and at the WWE Performance Center were released earlier this week, including the likes of William Regal, Samoa Joe, Timothy Thatcher, Road Dogg, Ryan Katz, Hideki Suzuki and Dave Kapoor.
The releases appear to have affected those who remained with the company and Mike Johnson of PWInsider noted individuals within WWE who "rarely have empathy for others" were "greatly shaken" by the firings. Employees at Titan Towers were also befuddled by the releases and many were sad, angry and frustrated.
William Regal's release, in particular, has left WWE talents and personnel fearful of their futures with the company with the belief being that if Regal could be let go, what hope do they have of enjoying a long career with WWE?
Some even noted they don't know how to begin to guess what might happen next with the developmental brand or the company.
