WrestleMania 39 was a historic event for WWE and the company has touted the success of the show, announcing that the 2023 edition of the Show of Shows set records for viewership, gate, sponsorship, merchandise, and social media. It is also the most successful and highest-grossing event in company history.
Night two of WrestleMania 39 was 33% above the previous global record in viewership while night one had already surpassed the previous record by 28% on Saturday, April 1. The gate for WrestleMania was more than $21.6 million, breaking the previous record by 27%.
Furthermore, sponsorship revenue was above $20 million, more than double the previous record, while merchandise sales were up 20% over WrestleMania 38. WrestleMania 38 saw a range of sponsors, including sponsored matches from a lemonade company and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
WrestleMania 39 took place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2. The show ended in controversial circumstances after WWE booked Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of night two.
