In a major announcement today, The Ringer revealed that WWE's Survivor Series pay-per-view - renamed Survivor Series WarGames - will feature two of the namesake matches. Brand warfare has also been abandoned in favour of more storyline-driven matches.

"We'll have a men's WarGames match and a women's WarGames match. The tradition of the Survivor Series has ebbed and flowed and changed slightly over time, but this will be similar to that. This will not be Raw versus SmackDown. It will be much more storyline-driven. I still look at it as a traditional component to Survivor Series in there because it's large teams of people competing. We just upped the ante a little bit with WarGames and made it evolve," Triple H said.

Survivor Series traditionally features a five vs. five elimination match that has typically been talents from Raw and SmackDown facing each other for brand supremacy in recent years. Speaking further, Triple H admitted he thought it was time for Survivor Series to move beyond that.

"Survivor Series has been an amazing event for 36 years. And it needs to evolve a little bit and this year seemed like the right time to do it. We're going to go to the TD Garden in Boston on the 26th, and it's already about as close as you get [to] sold out without us [announcing the WarGames matches]. But you know, this is about serving our fans. I wanna give them everything they can have," The Game added.

WarGames was a featured match in the NWA and then World Championship Wrestling in the 1980s and 1990s. It was later revived by NXT in 2017.

Survivor Series will take place on November 26 at Boston's TD Garden.
