One of the seven matches at WWE SummerSlam ultimately went shorter than originally planned, only using just over half of the time allotted for the contest.

Sami Zayn defended the Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker in the second match at SummerSlam. Fightful Select has reported the match was planned to be 12 minutes from the entrances to the finish, with 10 minutes of in-ring action scheduled for Breakker vs. Zayn.

The Intercontinental Title match only ended up going 5 minutes and 42 seconds, however, and Bron Breakker defeated Zayn in decisive fashion to capture his first championship on the WWE main roster. The finish saw Zayn hit Breakker with a Blue Thunder Bomb and Exploder Suplex, only for Breakker to decimate Zayn with a Spear when Sami went for the Helluva Kick. Breakker then picked up steam and connected with a second Spear for the win.

Although Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker went short, SummerSlam still ended up being a four-hour show that featured several major angles, including the return of Roman Reigns and the split of Judgment Day following turns by Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor.
