While The Rock might be 'headstrong' about facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, the match won't be happening at the 2024 edition of the Showcase of the Immortals. Roman Reigns will instead be busy at WrestleMania 40 as he is scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes following his WrestleMania 39 opponent's win in the 2024 men's Royal Rumble over the weekend. Rhodes made his plans to challenge Reigns immediately clear following the match.

While Reigns vs. Rock won't be held at WrestleMania 40, the match is still planned to take place at some point, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

"It is going to be Cody and Roman Reigns in a singles match. A Dwayne and Roman Reigns match, whenever it is, is still happening. I just don't know where. And Bryan, you may know where, because you probably know discussions that I may know too and I can't talk about them but anyway, the point is that it is still happening," Meltzer said.

A psychic predicted the match might be happening at WWE Elimination Chamber in February 2024 but The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is not currently planned for the Perth, Australia stadium show. Roman Reigns is not even scheduled to work the event.

The Rock looks set to remain involved in WWE for the foreseeable future, having been appointed to the TKO Board of Directors. This has presented Dwayne Johnson with a considerable amount of power.
