WWE Scrapped Plans For Jacob Fatu Name Change

Jacob Fatu wasn't originally going to make his WWE debut under his real name.

Fatu made his WWE debut on the June 21 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, being revealed as the newest member of The Bloodline as he absolutely demolished Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, putting him through the announce table with a splash from the top rope.

WWE originally had a different plan for Fatu's presentation and Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the former MLW World Heavyweight Champion was initially going to debut as Caesar Sikoa until the company decided to stick with his real name.

The 'Caesar Sikoa' name could be used for another wrestler, especially since WWE owns the trademark for the term, but the original idea was to give the moniker to Jacob Fatu. WWE filed to trademark 'Caesar Sikoa' with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on June 19.

The 'Caesar' name would likely call back to Roman history, notably the Tetrarchy period from 285 to 306 AD, during which 'Caesar' was used to refer to the heirs and second in command while the emperor/emperors was an Augustus.
