If John Cena should have turned heel in WWE once he reached the main event has divided fans for years. Some believe a heel turn would have rejuvenated a Cena character that had grown stale by the time the 2010s began, but others point to Cena's merchandise sales and his value to WWE as a babyface.

Cena has ultimately remained a babyface and his SummerSlam opponent, Roman Reigns, added his voice to the debate ahead of the pay-per-view.

"We can side seat drive his career and his life all we want but at the end of the day, he's done pretty good and he's still out there hustling and doing his thing. I think every man has their own path and their own decisions to influence that path. I think he did it his way and that's the only way it should’ve happened," Reigns told Ariel Helwani of BT Sport.

If Cena should have turned heel was recently debated by Cultaholic's Jack King and Andrew Hodkinson on The Motion. Check out the full episode here.
