WWE Releases Luke Harper, Sin Cara
Wished well in future endeavors...
Dec 8, 2019
WWE announced on Sunday that both Luke Harper and Sin Cara were released from their contracts.
A brief statement on WWE.com read, “WWE has come to terms on the releases of Jonathan Huber (Luke Harper) and Sin Cara. WWE wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.”
In April, Harper publicly wrote that he had asked for his release from WWE. At the time, his request was denied.
Later reports indicated that an additional six months was tacked onto his contract, to make up for lost injury time. His contract was reportedly set to expire in November 2019.
It was reported last week that Harper filed a trademark for his former ring name of Brodie Lee.
Jorge Arias, the portrayer of Sin Cara, publicly wrote last month that he was requesting his release from WWE as well.
It is not clear when both would be free to wrestle for another promotion that’s considered competition to WWE. Typically, a release results in a 90-day no-compete period before they could sign with a promotion like AEW.
