Who shocked the system in 2019?
Jan 2, 2020
The Undisputed ERA fulfilled their prophecy in 2019 as all four members of the stable ended the year with gold around their waist. At NXT TakeOver: XXV, Adam Cole won the NXT Championship after pinning Johnny Gargano. His allies soon followed his example as Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly regained the NXT Tag Team Championships from The Street Profits in August, and Roderick Strong won the NXT North American Championship from Velveteen Dream in September.
Their dominant year was recognised during last night's episode of NXT, as they won five of the six Year-End Awards available to them. Adam Cole was named the NXT Male Competitor Of The Year and NXT's Overall Competitor Of The Year. The Leader of The Undisputed Era was also awarded NXT Rivalry Of The Year for his trilogy of matches with Johnny Gargano. Cole's and Gargano's Two Out Of Three Falls match at NXT TakeOver: New York also won NXT's Match Of The Year award.
Cole's stable partners were also recognised for their achievements in 2019 as Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong were named NXT Tag Team Of The Year.
Other award winners included Keith Lee who was named the NXT Breakout Star Of The Year. The Limitless One ended 2019 in the NXT Championship picture after emerging victorious at NXT TakeOver: Wargames and putting on a dominant display at Survivor Series. Lee also provided the inspiration for some memes along the way.
For NXT's women, former champion Shayna Baszler was named NXT Female Competitor Of The Year while Dakota Kai was recognised as the NXT Future Star Of The Year.
