With NXT TakeOver: In Your House less than two weeks away, WWE's black and gold brand set plenty of wheels in motion ahead of the Peacock/WWE Network event on this week's edition of NXT.

Kyle O'Reilly vs. Pete Dunne vs. Johnny Gargano ended in a No-Contest

Kyle O'Reilly, Pete Dunne and Johnny Gargano faced off in a number one contender's match for the NXT Championship in the opening contest and all three men had plenty of opportunities to showcase themselves in a very good match, but none of that mattered when it came to the result.

As the match entered the home stretch, Kyle O'Reilly and Pete Dunne took each other out with Clotheslines on the outside while Johnny Gargano was down in the ring. Adam Cole then suddenly appeared from out of nowhere, though, and the former Undisputed ERA leader decked all three performers with a Steel Chair before he followed up with a Brainbuster to Dunne and Last Shots to Gargano and O'Reilly.

A furious William Regal then charged to the ring with security and demanded Cole leave, which the former NXT Champion agreed to do after he got one last cheap shot in on Kyle O'Reilly.

Amidst all of this chaos, Ember Moon marched to the ring and demanded Raquel Gonzalez get her "big ass out here."

The NXT Champion quickly answered, causing William Regal's night to get even more hectic as he tried to stop Gonzalez. She just brushed the general manager aside, though, and Gonzalez ended up on the losing end of a confrontation with Moon before Dakota Kai attacked The War Goddess from behind and left her lying to end the segment.

After a break, we were shown a clip from earlier in the night of Hit Row and Drake Maverick & Killian Dain barking at each other in the car park.

Jake Atlas def. LA Knight

The broadcast then headed back to the ring for LA Knight vs. Jake Atlas.

Knight went one on one with Atlas because the cruiserweight recently defeated Cameron Grimes and the former Eli Drake spent much of the match trying to impress Ted DiBiase, especially after The Million Dollar Man made his way to ringside.

Knight couldn't put Atlas away, though, and Cameron Grimes soon made his own trip to ringside to make his case for owning the Million Dollar legacy.

Grimes' involvement with DiBiase soon distracted LA Knight and Atlas took advantage as he blocked a Superplex attempt and followed up with his Cartwheel DDT finisher for the win.

McKenzie Mitchell then caught up with Ted DiBiase after the match and he seemed unimpressed by both LA Knight and Cameron Grimes.

Next on the show was more Adam Cole as the former NXT Champion marched to the ring and called Karrion Kross a musclehead who didn't deserve to be in the squared circle with him.

This, of course, brought out The Herald Of Doomsday and both men proceeded to insult each other, with Cole calling Kross "Mr Overrated", while the NXT Champion pointed out Cole was a "little man." William Regal then continued with his extremely busy evening as he headed to the ring and pointed out Cole was just trying to weasel his way into a singles NXT Title match.

Kross demanded Regal shut up, though, and the NXT Champion revealed he wanted to face Johnny Gargano, Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole and Pete Dunne at TakeOver: In Your House, just so he could kick Cole's ass.

This was followed by a backstage interview with Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell. LeRae spent her time talking about Poppy, who will be on next week's show, while Hartwell listened to 80s power ballads. Candice realised what her tag team partner was doing, though, and she took off her headphones and dragged her away.

Kushida def. Carmelo Hayes – NXT Cruiserweight Championship

Next up was the debut of the former Christian Casanova, now known as Carmelo Hayes, and he went one on one with Kushida for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

Both men put together a very good 10-minute match that showcased Carmelo Hayes' talents. The challenger was unable to pick up the win, though, and Kushida eventually trapped him in the Hoverboard Lock for the submission victory.

After another break, Franky Monet was shown getting her makeup done and she said she was just getting started.

The Way def. Zoey Stark & Zayda Ramier

The NXT Women's Tag Team Champions were in action next and they made quick work of Zoey Stark and Zayda Ramier, picking up the win after three minutes with a Wicked Stepsister-Springboard Flying Elbow Drop combination named Wicked Savage.

Mercedes Martinez then cut a backstage promo and she mentioned Xia Li was more badass now than when Martinez beat her during the Mae Young Classic.

After another break, a vignette revealed Diamond Mine will be opening soon and this was followed by a backstage interview with Ember Moon. The War Goddess announced she will face Dakota Kai next week before she goes one on one with Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women's Championship at TakeOver: In Your House.

MSK def. Legado del Fantasma – NXT Tag Team Championship

It was then time for the main event and Legado del Fantasma challenged MSK for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Both teams fought back and forth in the early going, but Grizzled Young Veterans tried to interfere with proceedings and marched to the ring. James Drake and Zack Gibson were immediately cut off by Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher, though, and all four men brawled to the back, allowing the match in the ring to continue.

Legado del Fantasma were in control after a commercial break and while Nash Carter got in a brief flurry of offence, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza quickly regained the upper hand and they dominated the in-ring action heading into the final stretch.

Santos Escobar even got involved as he threw Wes Lee into the steel steps while Mendoza distracted the referee. Legado del Fantasma then connected with their tag team finisher, but Mendoza failed to block Nash Carter's diving save and he managed to break up the pin before the count of three.

Bronson Reed then emerged from out of nowhere and crushed Santos Escobar between the cage barricade. This ultimately distracted the rest of Escobar's faction and MSK capitalised with their Hart Attack-Blockbuster finisher to Joaquin Wilde for the victory.
