Only two days after the Fourth of July weekend, WWE presented fans with a special Great American Bash edition of NXT. The show featured very good title matches and an excellent main event between Kyle O'Reilly and Adam Cole. Check out what happened below:

MSK def. Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher - NXT Tag Team Championship

The NXT Tag Team Championship opened The Great American Bash, and similar to recent months, MSK received a mixed reaction from the audience inside the Capitol Wrestling Center.

MSK tried to hit their tandem offence in the early going but the challengers soon took control and worked over both Wes Lee and Nash Carter for several minutes.

The challengers continued to dominate the match following a commercial break and Ciampa and Thatcher consistently cut off any momentum MSK managed to muster. The Blackheart and Toothless Timmy then thought they had the match won after Ciampa cut off some flips from Wes Lee with a Shotgun Dropkick and followed up with Project Ciampa for a near fall.

Wes Lee managed to make the tag to Carter shortly after and MSK finally managed to build some momentum for the first time in the match as they double-teamed Ciampa. Carter decked the former NXT Champion with a Senton Bomb before Lee followed up with a Corkscrew Senton. The champions had the match won but Thatcher broke up the pin.

This allowed the challengers to isolate Wes Lee and Ciampa decked him with an assisted Fairytale Ending. Timothy Thatcher then applied the Ankle Lock, but Nash Carter drove Ciampa into Toothless Tim to break up the submission.

This would spell disaster for the challengers as Thatcher took time to check on Ciampa and when he went to reapply the Ankle Lock, Wes Lee surprised him with an inside cradle for the 1-2-3.

Karrion Kross and Johnny Gargano Face-To-Face

William Regal and Samoa Joe were in the ring for the next segment and they invited Johnny Gargano and Karrion Kross to the squared circle.

Gargano briefly threw insults at Kross, who was without Scarlett, before Regal interrupted and announced it would be Karrion Kross vs. Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship next week.

The two competitors then traded insults for a little while before Regal revealed there will be a special guest referee next week, Samoa Joe. This led to Gargano throwing one final insult at Kross and he claimed the NXT Champion couldn't lace a pair of Candice LeRae's boots. Kross moved to intercept Gargano following the jibe but Samoa Joe blocked his path and the two men had another staredown to end the segment.

Following a break, Kushida cut a promo on Diamond Mine and The Time Splitter said he was ready to face the faction.

LA Knight def. Cameron Grimes – Million Dollar Championship

Next on the show was LA Knight vs. Cameron Grimes for the Million Dollar Title, with the added stipulation that Grimes would become Knight’s butler if The Technical Savage lost.

Grimes enjoyed a brief flurry of offence in the early going but LA Knight soon took control and dominated the action for several minutes. Grimes managed to fight back after a commercial break with a Standing Spanish Fly and The Technical Savage fired away at LA Knight as the crowd went wild. LA Knight managed to come back into the match, though, with a Torture Rack into a Facebuster for a near fall.

Both men then fought back and forth and Knight grabbed the Million Dollar Title after Grimes kicked out following a Superplex. The referee blocked Knight from using the title which allowed Grimes to roll up the former Eli Drake with an O'Connor Roll. The official then got rid of the belt and by the time he noticed what was going on, Knight had reversed into an O'Connor Roll of his own to score another near fall. Grimes managed to kick out luckily and he followed up with a Poisonrana.

The Technical Savage set up for Cave In shortly after but Knight cleverly rolled to the outside and he caught Grimes with a DDT from the apron to the floor onto the Million Dollar Championship.

Grimes was just able to make it back into the ring, but The Technical Savage was rocked and Knight followed up with BFT for the victory.

Cameron Grimes is LA Knight's butler.

Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai were interviewed next by McKenzie Mitchell and they claimed they would crush Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon.

The participants of the NXT Breakout Tournament were then revealed after a break. They are Trey Baxter, Carmelo Hayes, Andre Chase, Josh Briggs, Ikemen Jiro, Joe Gacy, Odyssey Jones and Duke Hudson (formerly Brendan Vink and Tony Modra).

Io Shirai & Zoey Stark def. The Way – NXT Women's Tag Team Championship

The Women's Tag Team Championship match was up next and the challengers dominated the action early on before The Way took control during the break.

Io Shirai and Candice LeRae eventually rekindled their long-running animosity and the challengers worked well together with some tandem offence. Shirai went for her patented Moonsault but LeRae rolled out of the way and locked in the Gargano Escape as Indi Hartwell cut off Stark with Dexter Lumis' Silence. Shirai managed to escape with a roll-up attempt and Hartwell broke up the pin.

LeRae was then rocked with a Palm Strike but a brief distraction from Indi Hartwell allowed LeRae to hit a middle rope German Suplex for a close near fall. Hartwell followed up with a Spinning Slam but Shirai continued to kick out.

The Way looked to finish off The Genius Of The Sky but the lights in the Capitol Wrestling Center suddenly went out and the charging battery finally reached 100 percent. As expected, this led to the return of Tegan Nox as a terrified Candice LeRae looked on.

This allowed the challengers to take advantage and Io Shirai Shotgun Dropkicked The Poison Pixie out of the ring before Zoey Stark decimated Indi Hartwell with a Spinning GTS for the 1-2-3.

Nox then marched to the ring and beat down LeRae in the squared circle before she chased her backstage. Dexter Lumis would then head to the ring during the commercial break to carry Indi Hartwell backstage.

Toni Storm was interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell next on the show and the former NXT UK Women's Champion claimed she deserved a championship match against Raquel Gonzalez. Storm then said Sarray was not on her level and rejected her challenge.

Hit Row NXT North American Championship Cypher Celebration

In the next segment of the show, Top Dolla and B-Fab rapped while Ashante "Thee" Adonis was the DJ. Isaiah "Swerve" Scott then added his own rap to the mix and the segment ended with a live performance of Hit Row's theme song.

Adam Cole def. Kyle O'Reilly

It was then time for the main event and Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly looked to determine who was the better wrestler inside the squared circle.

Both men grappled in the early going and Kyle O'Reilly took control and dominated his former friend with methodical offence. Cole eventually managed to fight back and he targeted Kool Kyle's neck for several minutes.

O'Reilly eventually managed to even up the contest and Kyle targeted Cole's already injured left knee. Cole fought back with a Backstabber and he mentioned O'Reilly’s wife which caused the former NXT Tag Team Champion to briefly hulk up before Cole caught him with a Superkick to the knee. Cole followed up by drilling O'Reilly's knee into the steel post ahead of a break.

Both men exchanged blows once NXT returned and they continued to target the other's injured knee. O'Reilly eventually managed to reverse a Figure Four Leg Lock into a Heel Hook but Cole made it to the ropes.

O'Reilly then decked Cole with a PK, but the move was so forceful, Kool Kyle ended up tumbling out of the ring. This allowed Cole to take advantage and he spiked O'Reilly with a Panama Sunrise on the floor. O'Reilly somehow got his foot on the bottom rope after Cole rolled him back into the ring and the former Undisputed ERA leader set up for the Last Shot.

O'Reilly blocked the move and both men exchanged strikes before Kool Kyle caught Cole with a Brainbuster and went for his Flying Knee Drop. O'Reilly missed, though, and Cole followed up with a Last Shot for an extremely close near fall.

Cole then went for a second Panama Sunrise but O'Reilly briefly countered before Cole went back to O'Reilly's knee. Kyle managed to block another Panama Sunrise attempt, but with his injured knee and the foolish decision proved to be O'Reilly's downfall as Cole took advantage with a Panama Sunrise while Kyle screamed in pain.

Cole then decked O'Reilly with a second Last Shot and covered him for the 1-2-3. On July 6, the former NXT Champion proved he was the better wrestler.
