With NXT airing on Syfy in the United States for the next two weeks, the black and gold brand brought fans a taped show on July 27 with major ramifications for NXT TakeOver 36. Check out what happened below:

Pete Dunne & Oney Lorcan def. Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher

Like most weeks, NXT got straight to the in-ring action and Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan squared off with Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher.

Both teams put together a very good technical wrestling match and the heel team picked up the win following interference from the returning Ridge Holland.

Ciampa looked to put Dunne away down the stretch after he applied the Fujiwara Armbar. Lorcan was also prevented from making the save after Thatcher applied the Ankle Lock on the outside, but Toothless Timmy was suddenly blindsided by the returning Ridge.

This ultimately got Ciampa's attention and Pete Dunne took advantage and connected with the Bitter End for the victory.

Holland then proceeded to make an impact after the match as he Suplexed Thatcher into the ropes and Headbutted Ciampa to end the segment standing tall.

Samoa Joe vs. Karrion Kross Signed For NXT TakeOver 36.

After a Hit Row promo in Spanish, Samoa Joe marched to the ring and set up a table and chairs for a contract signing. Joe said Kross was too much of a gutless coward to be in the building and he invited William Regal to the ring.

Joe noted Regal was going to fire Karrion Kross tonight following last week's attack but The Samoan Submission Machine said he had a better solution, a way to satisfy their problem in three easy steps.

Step #1: Samoa Joe resigns from NXT management.

Step #2: William Regal reactivates Samoa Joe as a member of the NXT roster, which the general manager put pen to paper to.

Step #3: William Regal makes Karrion Kross vs. Samoa Joe for the NXT Title official for NXT TakeOver 36, a contract which Regal happily signed.

Next up was another entertaining segment featuring LA Knight and Cameron Grimes on a golf course. Knight tried to embarrass Grimes, but the Million Dollar Champion was the one who was humiliated when he smashed a ball into the trees.

Carmelo Hayes def. Josh Briggs – NXT Breakout Tournament

The second match on the show was another first-round match in the NXT Breakout Tournament.

Former EVOLVE Champion Josh Briggs and Carmelo Hayes fought back and forth for 10 minutes and Hayes scored the 1-2-3 with a Flying Leg Drop.

Cameron Grimes and LA Knight were back on the golf course following a break and Knight drilled a ball straight into the water. Grimes had to go and get the ball and Ted DiBiase suddenly pulled up in a golf cart after Knight drove to the next hole. The Million Dollar Man told Grimes he was born to be a champion and to not lose his pride.

Dakota Kai turns on Raquel Gonzalez

NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai headed to the ring for the next segment.

Gonzalez demanded to know who was the next challenger for her title before Dakota Kai put over how her "best friend" was the most dominant woman in NXT history.

Kai then asked who was woman enough to challenge Raquel at NXT TakeOver 36. No one answered the call and Kai told Gonzalez "as long as I have your back, you will always be champion."

Potentially foreboding words for the champion as the segment looked to be over, but Kai suddenly laid out her best friend with a big boot and held the title aloft, signalling her intentions for August 22.

After another break, Zoey Stark tried to become friends with Io Shirai. The Genius Of The Sky said she didn't like her, but she reluctantly agreed to hang out with Stark.

Mandy Rose was then shown backstage speaking with Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne.

Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter def. Franky Monet & Jessi Kamea

Franky Monet and Jessi Kamea were in action against Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter next on the show and the babyface team picked up the win after three minutes following interference from Robert Stone.

Monet was dominating the action against Kayden Carter late in the match when Robert Stone suddenly hopped on the apron and launched a man purse at La Wera Loca, demanding she use it. All this did was distract Monet, though, and Carter took advantage with a Superkick before Catanzaro put Franky away with a 450 Splash.

An enraged Monet then took her frustration out on Stone after the match.

Diamond Mine Interview with Wade Barrett

An interview with Diamond Mine's Roderick Strong and Malcolm Bivens followed. Bivens was revealed as the mastermind of Diamond Mine and he put over Strong as a number one wrestler. They then said Bobby Fish vs. Roderick Strong was the next big money match, and that bout would take place next week.

Imperium def. Hit Row

Ashante "Thee" Adonis and Top Dolla of Hit Row were in action against Imperium next on the show.

Hit Row had been on a roll since debuting in NXT but their momentum came to a screeching halt this week as they were defeated by Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel.

The faction had an excuse, though, as Legado del Fantasma suddenly laid out Isaiah "Swerve" Scott at ringside down the stretch. This got the attention of Top Dolla, who proceeded to attack Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza before he chased Santos Escobar up the ramp. This left Ashante "Thee" Adonis alone, though, and Imperium took advantage with the European Bomb for the win.

Legado del Fantasma, seeing blood in the water, then beat down Top Dolla after the match until Swerve recovered and made the save with a steel chair.

The broadcast cut backstage following the match and showed Indi Hartwell, Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano bickering about Austin Theory's absence. They were interrupted by a present from Dexter Lumis to Hartwell which infuriated Gargano. Hartwell really wanted The Way to give him a chance, though, and a 'Love Her Or Lose Her Match' between Gargano and Lumis was booked for next week.

It was then time for the final golf course segment and Zack Gibson and James Drake demanded Knight hurry up. Grimes defended the Million Dollar Champion and this led to a wager with the Grizzled Young Veterans on who would pot the ball first.

Knight, of course, hit the ball straight in the water and Grimes proved he could do better as he proceeded to get a hole in one, decking Knight in the testicles and the head with the driver in the process.

A woozy Knight then recovered and chased off Grizzled Young Veterans, believing they were the ones who knocked him out.

Adam Cole def. Bronson Reed

It was then time for the main event as Adam Cole went one on one with Bronson Reed.

Both men exchanged momentum throughout the even 11-minute match and Cole picked up another big win on the black and gold brand.

Reed thought he had the match won down the stretch as he went for Tsunami. Cole rolled out of the way, though, and the former NXT Champion capitalised with the Last Shot for the victory.

Cole had little time to celebrate, however, as Kyle O'Reilly suddenly decked him from behind with a steel chair and an angry O'Reilly laid out his former friend with a Brainbuster on the steel steps. Kool Kyle stood over Cole as he was showered with "You suck" chants as NXT went off the air.
