WWE NXT 2.0 Could Become TV-14 Show

NXT 2.0 is certainly more risqué in tone than in its black and gold days

With the change from NXT to NXT 2.0, some subtle tonal changes have managed to sneak through all the technicolour mayhem of WWE’s premier developmental league.

The biggest is the use of casual swearing, and some more risqué material that you wouldn’t find on WWE main roster television. And according to a Tweet from Wrestlevotes, it could be setting up NXT for a TV-14 rating:

“Within the origins of this NXT 2.0 concept was an idea that the programs rating would shift from TV-PG to TV-14. Source confirms that’s still very much on the table and USA Network is not opposed. If / when WWE decides to make the change is TBD.”

Many WWE fans have clamoured for a shift from TV-PG since the beginning of the ‘PG era’ in July 2008, citing the excitement and intensity of the ‘Attitude Era’ and subsequent ‘Ruthless Aggression’ as reasons why the WWE product was more popular then as opposed to now.

Although a shift to TV-14 could be in the works for NXT, there is no suggestion that RAW and SmackDown could follow suit, especially as the shift to TV-PG made the WWE far more appealing to advertisers.
