Following a United States Securities and Exchange Commission filing which revealed that Vince McMahon, George Barrios, and Michelle Wilson have been elected to the WWE Board of Directors, replacing JoEllen Lyons Dillon, Jeffrey R. Speed, and Alan M. Wexler, the company have confirmed in a press release that Vince McMahon is back.

"Today, we announce that the founder of WWE, Vince McMahon, will be returning to the Board. We also welcome back Michelle Wilson and George Barrios to our Board of Directors. Together, we look forward to exploring all strategic alternatives to maximise shareholder value," Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan, and Paul "Triple H" Levesque said.

Vince McMahon said: "WWE has an exceptional management team in place, and I do not intend for my return to have any impact on their roles, duties, or responsibilities."

The company confirmed they will undertake a strategic review to maximise value for WWE shareholders. "There is no assurance that this process will result in a transaction," it was noted.

Ignace Lahoud and Man Jit Singh have also resigned from the Board of Directors.

Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan remain Co-CEOs and Triple H is still in his role as Chief Content Officer. Stephanie is also still WWE Chairwoman.

As part of Vince McMahon’s return, the company’s bylaws have been amended to ensure a media-rights deal or sale can only be finalised with his approval.

Vince McMahon's return comes only months after he resigned as WWE CEO and Chairman in disgrace amidst a hush money and sexual misconduct scandal. The Wall Street Journal have reported that McMahon has returned to pursue a sale of the company. He is looking to be installed as Executive Chairman of the Board and he reportedly plans to not approve any sale or media-rights deal unless he is granted his request by the Board.
