WWE & Nick Khan Exploring Working With Other Pro Wrestling Promotions

Professional wrestling is back in WWE, with the new era of the promotion leaning away from the WWE of old formed in Vince McMahon’s image.

WWE have further leaned into working with outside promotions since McMahon stepped away from creative and then WWE altogether, with TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace entering the Royal Rumble, Charlie Dempsey working for All Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Shayna Baszler competing at GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport X over WrestleMania 40 weekend.

A report from Sports Illustrated suggests that this is set to continue under the new regime, with WWE President Nick Khan looking to ‘engineer collaboration with other professional wrestling promotions’, with Khan giving WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque the green light to work with TNA Wrestling.

Whilst WWE have largely been insular since their secession from the NWA for a second time in the early 1980s, they have partnered with outside promotions from time to time, famously working with New Japan Pro-Wrestling in the 1980s, Paul Heyman’s ECW in the mid-1990s, whilst also striking up partnerships with Jim Cornette’s Smokey Mountain Wrestling, and even a working agreement with the NWA during the Attitude Era.
