WWE's pay cuts and releases following WrestleMania 42 may end up having long-term ramifications for the company's attempts to sign and re-sign wrestlers in the future.

Fightful Select has reported that most people within professional wrestling are aware that releases are a reality of WWE's plans moving forward, but wrestlers being asked to accept pay cuts of seven figures per year was heavily criticised and scoffed at.

Those within the talent and agent spheres also noted the post-WrestleMania cuts and pay cuts are likely to result in heavy changes for how wrestlers negotiate deals with WWE in the future. It was specifically noted there is "very little confidence" that the big-money deals a lot of wrestlers sign will last through the actual length of the deals.

WWE carried out cuts and pay cuts following WrestleMania 42 after being tasked by TKO with reducing payroll by millions of dollars. This has seen 29 wrestlers be released, including the whole of the Wyatt Sicks, the Motor City Machine Guns, Kairi Sane, and Aleister Black. The New Day of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were also granted their releases after being asked by WWE to accept pay cuts, an offer which they rejected.

Several talents approached about pay cuts have accepted the offers. Wrestlers who were asked to accept pay cuts to remain with the company were wrestlers previously pushed at the top level but are no longer booked as top stars. It has been revealed WWE's justification for the pay cuts is that wrestlers are working less than they were in the past.
