The upcoming King & Queen of the Ring pay-per-view on Saturday, May 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia will be main evented by an Undisputed WWE Title match between Cody Rhodes and United States Champion Logan Paul.

It was originally hinted on the May 10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown and in the days that followed that the pay-per-view match would be for both the Undisputed WWE Championship and the United States Title. That wasn't the case, though, and Logan Paul threatened legal action on the May 17 SmackDown to ensure the contract was changed to the match being just for the Undisputed WWE Title. Rhodes ultimately agreed to make the change, with the match being booked for King & Queen of the Ring.

Despite teases ahead of the contract signing, WWE seemingly never planned to make the King & Queen of the Ring main event a title vs. title match. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio the whole plan for the angle was to get heat on Logan Paul.

"I asked when they did the first one. It was ambivalent and they very much talked about belt vs. belt. And I asked about it and they said it'll be announced on Friday and, you know, it's a story. The story was just to get heat on Logan for not doing it, not a story to do belt vs. belt," Meltzer said.

Other matches set for the May 25 pay-per-view include the finals of the King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournaments. Sami Zayn will also defend the Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable and Bronson Reed, while Becky Lynch will put the Women's World Title on the line against Liv Morgan.
