WWE fans may have noticed that superstars on NXT have taken less time in recent months getting to the ring for matches and in-ring segments.

The reason for this, according to a new report from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, is to avoid the possibility of people watching at home changing the channel.

According to the report, the idea to shorten ring entrance time came from NXT producer and WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels a while ago. He believed longer ring entrance times gave viewers more opportunities to switch over and watch All Elite Wrestling when the two promotions were engaged in the 'Wednesday Night War'.

The story within WWE, per the report, is that Shawn got the suggestion from his wife Rebecca. She told him she thought ring entrances in NXT were too long, giving people a reason to switch television stations. Michaels, in turn, brought it up with best friend and NXT boss Triple H.

Reportedly, Triple H agreed with Michaels. While there is no longer any issue of a switch to AEW, with NXT now on Tuesdays, the black-and-gold brand prefer to use the saved time for for more in-ring action and storyline development.
