Vince McMahon-Triple H Power Struggle Harmed Cameron Grimes' WWE Main Roster Push
Cameron Grimes was caught in WWE power struggle between Triple H & Vince McMahon

Cameron Grimes' potential on the WWE main roster was ultimately hampered by a power struggle between Triple H and Vince McMahon, the man himself has claimed during an appearance on Busted Open Radio.
Six months after being written out of WWE NXT, Grimes officially moved to the main roster in May of 2023, being drafted by Friday Night SmackDown. Reports following his full main roster debut noted Grimes was expected to receive a push and Triple H had high hopes for Grimes. That push never materialised, though, and Grimes was soon used as a jobber to the stars.
Speaking with Busted Open Radio, Grimes explained he found himself stuck in a power struggle between Triple H and Vince McMahon. As Vince McMahon was in charge of creative at the time and Grimes was a "Hunter guy", he found himself losing out.
"What happened was, as soon as I got brought up there, was the struggle between the two. Hunter wasn't really in charge yet. Vince was still kinda in charge. There was still that battle going on between them. You were either a Hunter guy or a Vince guy. At the time, Vince was still in charge, being a Hunter guy didn't really help you that much, during that period," Grimes stated.
Vince McMahon was the head of WWE creative in May 2023, having forced himself back into that spot from the Raw after WrestleMania 39. McMahon would lose creative power back to Triple H later in the year following the completion of the UFC-WWE merger.
WWE and parent company TKO have since distanced themselves from McMahon due to the Janel Grant lawsuit and WWE programming has looked to establish the "Triple H era" since WrestleMania 40.
Cameron Grimes was released by WWE on April 23, only days after a high-level executive told him he would always have a job with the company.
