Tyler Breeze On WWE's Twitch Ban: "The Boys Will Mess It Up For The Boys"
Breeze doesn't blame WWE
Aug 13, 2021
Tyler Breeze has blamed WWE talent for the company deciding to introduce a Twitch ban in 2020.
Many main roster Superstars streamed on Twitch during the COVID-19 pandemic to supplement their income, but WWE put an end to this and issued an edict banning talent from using third-party platforms in October 2020. This resulted in many Superstars closing down their channels and Zelina Vega was fired by WWE after she defied the edict and opened an OnlyFans account.
Tyler Breeze was a prominent streamer on Twitch at the time and he claimed WWE introduced the ban because of Superstars' conduct on the platform.
"So it was a little different. So obviously everybody kind of threw their hands up in the air when they kind of stopped everything. There's a saying that's been around and will last; 'The boys will mess it up for the boys.' I was streaming on Twitch for 2 years and no one was really paying attention to anything, because I was doing it properly," Breeze said on Insight with Chris Van Vliet.
"In the end, when you are under a certain banner, it's like media training. If something happens, let's say I'm live, and I represent myself horribly. When you sign onto a big company, the headline doesn't read 'Matt Clement does this...' It now says 'WWE Superstar...' or 'AEW Superstar...' did this. Now you have to be mature enough to realise you represent a bigger entity and conduct yourself accordingly," Breeze continued.
"People then realised they could do this [Twitch streams] and they don't present themselves accordingly. Whether it's using their intellectual property, or giving away things they shouldn't be given away. They just violate certain things, and eventually the guy who is charge of everything will say 'You know what? everything stops, you ruined it.' They can't go case by case of you're OK but you are not OK. They just go 'You guys stop.' And honestly from a business standpoint, if you ran a business and you had all this stuff, would you let it go? You would blanket it and say 'Guys, this has to stop.'"
Tyler Breeze was released by WWE earlier this year. Prince Pretty isn't sure if he will continue wrestling, though, and he recently noted he is enjoying giving his body a break.
