WWE have presented fans with a PG product since 2008 but the lines have been blurred in recent months since The Rock returned to the company's programming earlier this year. Dwayne Johnson has since cut a number of promos, cursing in several of them.

Reports over the weekend claimed The Rock's swearing had rubbed some in the company the wrong way due to the perceived double standard of the rest of the roster being restrained by WWE's PG rules while Dwayne Johnson receives a free pass. Talent have even asked why The Rock has been getting such a pass.

The thinking, according to SEScoops, is that "even if he is the big movie star, shouldn't everyone play by the same rules? So he can curse and use that to get over, but everyone else is handcuffed?"

The Rock has since addressed the reports, writing on Instagram: "'You sound like somebody the Rock can love - drunk and horny'. Networks and 'standards & practices' have issues with my language, but I'd rather be real than not. I talk from the heart, shoot from the hip and try to always have fun. Enjoy the Rock concert."

The Rock is set to be in a major match at WrestleMania 40. He will main event night one of WWE's biggest show of the year on April 6 when he teams with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. This is ahead of Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes in the main event of night two.
