A tense and sour mood reportedly overshadowed much of the WWE Performance Center ahead of the August 10 episode of NXT, amid further releases from the brand and speculation regarding the future.

NXT lost another 12 names in budget cuts last Friday as former North American Champions Bronson Reed and Leon Ruff, former NXT Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish, Mercedes Martinez and a host of others were released from the promotion.

The most recent departures come amid reports that WWE is planning on significantly altering NXT's direction, pushing the black-and-gold brand back into being mainly WWE's developmental territory, with a focus on younger and bigger talent as opposed to some of the names that have made their home at the Capitol Wrestling Center.

With rumours and speculation continuing to circulate about NXT's impending changes, WrestleVotes is reporting that there was a horrendously bad mood around the WWE PC ahead of last night's show.

The report goes on to say that tension was running high 'to say the least'.
