The legal saga surrounding Ted DiBiase Jr. rolls on, with the former WWE star recently given a new trial date.

The 40-year-old had been due to stand trial on June 20, but the government requested more time for both sides to review the case and either prepare for a trial or negotiate a plea deal.

PWInsider reports that he will now stand trial on July 16 of next year, with a pre-trial conference set for June 24. DiBiase Jr. was arrested in April and indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, six counts of wire fraud, two counts of theft concerning receiving federal funds and four counts of money laundering.

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 45 years imprisonment and a million-dollar fine.

It is alleged that DiBiase Jr., in conjunction with others, misused millions in federal funds intended to help needy individuals and low-income families in the state of Mississippi by entering into sham contracts for work that was never carried out.

According to court documents, the former WWE Tag Team Champion used the money to make lavish purchases including a boat, a vehicle, and putting a down payment on a house.

DiBiase Jr. denies the charges. His father, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase, has called the charges 'garbage'.
