Tanga Loa Makes Shock Debut At WWE Backlash, Helps Bloodline Defeat Randy Orton & Kevin Owens
Tanga Loa debuts at WWE Backlash France
May 4, 2024
WWE Backlash France opened up with a banger as The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga faced off with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton, with The Bloodline ultimately picking up the win following the shock debut of Tanga Loa.
The opening contest was made into a Street Fight by Nick Aldis after the four competitors started brawling before the bell even rang. This led to a weapons-filled matchup and the babyfaces looked to have the match won following a Michinoku Driver from the top rope through a bunch of chairs from Kevin Owens to Tama Tonga. Before the referee could complete the three-count, though, he was suddenly pulled from the ring by a debuting Tanga Loa.
Moments later, Solo Sikoa decked Kevin Owens with a Uranage and Samoan Spike for the victory, with Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Loa standing over the fallen Owens as Paul Heyman begged them not to attack KO further.
Tanga Loa's debut was very much a surprise as it was unknown that he had even left New Japan Pro-Wrestling, having performed for the promotion beyond Tama Tonga's exit earlier this year. Loa has history in WWE, having wrestled for the company from 2009 until 2014 as Agent T, Donny Marlow, and Camacho.
After a stint in TNA Wrestling, Tanga Loa headed to New Japan and teamed with Tama Tonga as Guerrillas of Destiny, becoming seven-time IWGP Tag Team Champions and three-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions.
Tanga Loa's final NJPW match saw him unsuccessfully challenge Great-O-Khan in a Rural Revitalisation Match on the March 31 Road to Sakura Genesis show.
