Seth Rollins believes Roman Reigns has finally figured out who his character is now in WWE, which is creating an authenticity that is resonating with the audience.
Reigns has undoubtedly been one of the highlights of the WWE product in the past 12 months, since returning following a hiatus with his Head Of The Table persona. Reigns has ruled SmackDown as the Universal Champion ever since.
His former Shield teammate Rollins is proud of how far Reigns has come and how he has adapted to the pressure put on him from the company to be a top star for WWE.
Speaking to Daily Star Online, Rollins said: "I have basically seen his entire career from day one - he was in WWE a few months ahead of me.
“I’ve watched him grow as a performer over time, and one thing I think people don’t understand is that it takes time to be really good at this business and to figure yourself out and find your comfort level.
"Even though he was put in a position to succeed early on, that is a lot of pressure for a young man. He is in the middle of an incredible run as far as WrestleMania main events are concerned, and kinda being put in the Hulk Hogan, John Cena top spot. That is not easy, that is a difficult thing to do.
"One thing that’s been nice is that you’ve seen from SummerSlam last year, he has evolved so much as a character to a place where he feels comfortable. You can really sense that his personality is starting to shine through, or shades of it anyway. That’s really what I think connects you to an audience, that authenticity.
"For years he kinda struggled to figure out who he was on screen. Now he knows, and it’s been cool to see his growth, [as] someone who was a mentor to him in his younger years. To watch him grow now, I feel real good about that. It’s cool to see where he’s at now and where he could go in the future."
