Roman Reigns can no longer be described as a WWE regular, having taken on a part-time schedule since April 2022, only days after he emerged victorious from the main event of WrestleMania 38 to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Appearances from WWE's top star have become fewer and fewer since then and Reigns only defended his title on five occasions in 2023. Altogether, Reigns worked 11 matches for the year across WWE programming and live events.

Reigns' schedule has received criticism, particularly as he is WWE's top star, but 'The Tribal Chief' has been defended by fellow Anoa'i family member and on-screen rival Jey Uso.

"I look at my cousin now, and I'm just happy at how far he's come. From the day he walked into FCW developmental, to which I was there, to present. Inspiring. He's the blueprint of what hard work does, and you can just never knock that, and he has a great work ethic. All the time that he has off, he deserves all that uce. He earned it," Uso told TNT Sports.

Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble in a Four-Way against LA Knight, Randy Orton, and AJ Styles.
