Back on the June 15 episode of Monday Night Raw, Ric Flair returned to WWE TV and quickly aligned himself with Randy Orton. The Nature Boy then accompanied Orton to the ring during his feud with The Big Show but Flair was pulled from TV after The Horror Show at Extreme Rules and he hasn't been on Raw since.
Reports have previously noted that Flair's return was only supposed to be short term, but this hasn't stopped him from asking WWE to come back as he told TV Insider during a recent interview that he has been campaigning to manage The Apex Predator at SummerSlam 2020. Orton is set to go one on one with Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at the pay-per-view.
Flair said: "The thing with Orton is it's a real life story. His dad and I have been friends since the '70s. We probably started around the same time. I watched Randy grow up. I was there the day he came up with Dave [Bautista] in Evolution. I don't know if I would have that same impact on a lot of people. I certainly would love the opportunity, but I think it would have to be one of those scenarios. I'm trying to get me to manage Randy against [Drew] McIntyre [at SummerSlam]. I don't know. I haven't heard back, but it's not because I'm not trying."
