Rey Mysterio has revealed that he has told son Dominik he will be a better wrestler than his father.

Dominik only made his WWE debut last year, facing Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2021 in his first-ever match for the promotion, and has gone on to hold the SmackDown Tag Team Championships with father Rey on the blue brand.

The 24-year-old began training for his wrestling career only a couple of years ago and Rey, who has one of the most distinguished careers in wrestling, believes his son has all the tools needed to surpass him.

Speaking to TMZ Sport, Mysterio said: "I've told my son from the beginning, you're gonna be better than your old man and I keep saying this over and over and over to him.

"I can't wait for the day for him to become his own man, although in a way he already is and for me it's hard as a father to kind of let him go and fly on his own, but I truly believe in my heart, and I don't just say this so he can stamp it in his head, but he's gonna be better than his old man."
