Report: WWE Think Sasha Banks Has Peaked As A Star
WWE don't see Sasha Banks as a long-term star
Dec 16, 2022
Sasha Banks is seemingly finished with WWE, with reports from Wrestling Inc., Fightful Select, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter all noting that Banks and WWE agreed to her exit in the summer. As part of the deal, though, Banks was banned from taking any wrestling-related bookings until 2023.
After the new WWE regime came into power in July, Banks and the company reportedly began negotiations over a return but they were far apart on money. In an update, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Banks was looking to receive a salary similar to that of Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. The Boss didn't receive an offer anywhere close to that, however, because WWE internally believe that she "has peaked as a star aside from the reality that was acknowledged that if she would return, there would be a 'honeymoon' period where people would go nuts for her."
WWE believe Banks could have a singles or tag team title run but they don't see her as someone who could be at the top of the women's division for the next five years. Despite this, WWE think Banks will be back with the company at some point but they don't know when a return will take place.
Banks is set to return to pro wrestling in 2023 and make her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4. She is expected to enter a programme over the IWGP Women's Championship.
