Kenice Mobley's brief run as a WWE writer came to an end on Friday, June 25, after a podcast appearance in which the stand-up comedian admitted she knew nothing about wrestling and struggled to name WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.

Word of Mobley's comments quickly got back to WWE and she was said to be "under the gun" for speaking publicly about something the organisation didn't want talked about. WWE was also reportedly embarrassed by the situation because it made the company look "blindingly stupid" to the outside world. By Friday, she had been fired.

More about Mobley's firing has now been revealed, courtesy of Fightful Select. Despite the backlash to the stand-up comedian's podcast appearance, this reportedly did not lead to her firing. Instead, several WWE Superstars and members of staff felt disrespected by her comments about the wrestling business, "being on the team", and her lack of knowledge of who the primary Superstars were. WWE also discourages writers from speaking about their job, something Mobley did not abide by.

People on both Raw and SmackDown also noted writers joining the company without prior knowledge of wrestling is not uncommon, but they make an early effort to "pick it up."

Fightful noted none of the wrestlers they spoke to worked directly with Mobley.
