Jeff Hardy Reportedly Released By WWE
Jeff Hardy is no longer with WWE
Dec 9, 2021
WWE have released former world champion Jeff Hardy, according to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp.
"Fightful has learned WWE has released Jeff Hardy. I've heard WWE offered Jeff Hardy help and rehab, and it was not accepted. Here's to hoping things get better for him," Sean Ross Sapp tweeted.
Hardy's release comes only days after he was sent home from a WWE house show this past weekend. The 44-year-old was involved in a six-man tag team match at Saturday's live event from Edinburg, Texas and fan footage emerged showing that Hardy grew sluggish as the match progressed. The former WWE Champion then tagged out of the match and left the ringside area through the crowd.
Hardy was then not involved on Sunday's house show and The Charismatic Enigma was reportedly sent home by WWE management.
Hardy has battled drug and alcohol addiction outside of the squared circle throughout his career and he had a stint in an in-patient rehab facility following a DUI arrest in October 2019.
Hardy's latest run with WWE began at WrestleMania 33 in 2017, debuting alongside brother Matt and immediately winning the Raw Tag Team Championship. He has switched brands several times over the past four years and he was most recently a member of the SmackDown roster, with his last televised match taking place on November 26.
