NXT is reportedly making a concerted effort to put a larger focus on the Cruiserweight division going forward, including bigger names and more integrated storylines.

According to a report from Fightful Select, there has been a plan backstage in NXT to increase the emphasis on both the Cruiserweight division and the NXT Cruiserweight Championship, including its current holder Kushida.

Officials on the black-and-gold brand are high on Kushida, as are the roster around him, and NXT is eager to feature both him, the Title and the division on the whole more regularly on NXT programming.

With that in mind, NXT is intending to build more intrinsic storylines and angles for the Cruiserweight division and to put some of their bigger names into feuds for the Cruiserweight Championship heading into the summer.

WWE's intentions to further highlight Kushida and the Cruiserweight Title have been evident in recent weeks.

The 38-year-old main-evented last night's NXT against Kyle O'Reilly, who competed for the NXT Title at TakeOver: In Your House, while former North American Champion Roderick Strong returned to NXT and attacked Kushida at the close of the show alongside his new stable, The Diamond Mine.
