Last week, the Mayor of Boston Marty Walsh announced all large-scale gatherings in the city had been suspended until September 7. Massachusetts currently has the fourth-most coronavirus cases in the United States.

The TD Garden was set to host SummerSlam 2020 on August 23 but those plans were thrown into disarray after the announcement. Now, WrestleVotes has revealed WWE still wants to host the pay-per-view with fans in attendance on August 23 in Boston despite the mayor's announcement.

The city has informed the wrestling behemoth the show is unlikely to take place as planned and WrestleVotes noted that the company is "actively hunting" for another venue that will allow fans to attend the show. South Florida and Georgia have been touted as possible locations.

WWE may still decide to host The Biggest Party Of The Summer in Boston, however, as they could push it back until after September 7 and hope the situation in Massachusetts improves.

WrestleVotes tweeted: "What I've learned from sources on SummerSlam.

- WWE wants to remain as is, city of Boston has made it clear that’s not likely - WWE is activity hunting for a new location w/ fans - Keep an eye on the South, FL & GA. - Date MAY be pushed into September - No word on TakeOver"
