Earlier this week, Dave Meltzer claimed that a huge story was going to break regarding professional wrestling in Japan.

While many online speculated something breaking in regards to a relationship between New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom, it turns out that WWE are upping their efforts in trying to launch NXT Japan.

Although, they haven't been successful in doing so at the time of writing.

According to Meltzer on a recent episode of

Wrestling Observer Radio

, instead of launching the new NXT Japan brand from scratch, WWE tried to purchase the faltering Pro Wrestling NOAH league with the aim of using the existing brand as a launchpad for their new venture.

WWE allegedly want to purchase an existing outfit in Japan due to the difficulty of launching a new brand within the exicting framework of Japanese pro wrestling.

This appears to be the latest move in Triple H's 'global localization' of WWE. So far, the company have Performance Centers in Florida (opened back in 2013) and London, England (opened back in January).
