Report: WWE COVID Outbreak Believed To Have Originated From Party

There are new details about the recent COVID-19 outbreak within WWE, according to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

According to several sources, the belief is that the outbreak started after an NXT talent threw a party that was attended by several trainees, leading to an asymptomatic viral transmission. The virus was then spread among those who work and train at the Performance Center in Orlando.

Johnson's report claims that both trainees and staff have tested positive for COVID.

Training sessions at the PC were cancelled for Thursday.

A WWE spokesman told PWInsider, “As part of ongoing testing protocols, WWE completed its second round of weekly COVID-19 testing on Tuesday. Individuals that tested positive will quarantine for 14 days, receive medical care, and then will only be cleared when they are symptom-free and test negative. Additionally, extensive contact tracing has taken place and other individuals have been placed in 14-day quarantine, and will then only be cleared after they test negative.”

Talent and staff at the PC were told they would not be allowed to work Raw or SmackDown at the Thunderdome until further notice.

However, the report states there is a fear concerning the masked Retribution extras (which are trainees) from Monday's Raw taping, that there could be a possible cross-contamination to the main roster. PWInsider does note that as of the report, there is, "...no word that any of concerns...have been warranted."
