There is concern within WWE over Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes appearing on the company's programming together, according to a new report.

The Men's WarGames Match at Survivor Series was finally made official on Monday's episode of Raw, with Team CM Punk set to be composed of Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso. They will take on The Vision of Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed.

Future additions will reportedly be made to the match, however, as it has been reported that John Cena will be on Team CM Punk at Survivor Series. According to Ibou of Self Made, WWE have discussed adding Cena to WarGames for months, with Ibou noting he was told around SummerSlam that WWE wanted to have John Cena, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns all be featured in the babyface WarGames team. There were hurdles around booking such a team at Survivor Series, however, notably that either Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns is resistant to appearing on-screen with the other unless it is to build to a third singles match between them. Right now, another singles match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns is not planned.

"Speaking of Team Punk, the lineup has been in flux because three months ago I was told around SummerSlam that WWE wanted to sell tickets to Survivor Series and they were going to do that by putting Cody, Roman, Punk, and Cena in one WarGames team. That's what they wanted to do…I was told there would be a number of hurdles into making that team," Ibou began.

"A month later I was told Cody is not going to do that match, it's not in the cards for Cody to be in the match. And then I was told Cody is scheduled to defend his championship on the show…There are people within WWE that believe that somebody involved does not want Roman and Cody to be on the same screen unless they can tease to a match that they're going to deliver on...Someone there is saying either I can't be on-screen with Cody or vice versa, I can't be on-screen with Roman unless we get this match going," Ibou continued.

"The bottom line is this, there is some concern there about that. About the idea of do you really want to put them on-screen, make the fans want to see that match again, and then you can't do the match. And right now, Cody and Roman is not scheduled. There's a lot of hurdles there."

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns have primarily been rivals since Rhodes returned to WWE in 2022. Reigns defeated Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39, but Cody ended Reigns' Undisputed WWE Universal Title reign in the main event of WrestleMania XL.

Rhodes and Reigns then teamed together at Bad Blood 2024 - a show which ended with an infamous appearance from The Rock - but they have not teamed together or faced each other in a match since then.
