On Friday, WWE announced the return of Talking Smack. The revived show will be hosted by Kayla Braxton and Xavier Woods and will air on the free and paid tiers of the WWE Network on Saturday mornings. Talking Smack was previously broadcast on the WWE Network from August 2016 until July 2017 with Daniel Bryan and Renee Young as hosts.

The New Day member didn't appear on Saturday's episode, however, and was replaced by The Miz.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Woods was absent from the show because nobody from WWE told him he would be hosting the new series.

Meltzer said: "The first episode of Talking Smack which aired yesterday morning, which was taped on Friday after SmackDown. So it's supposed to be Xavier Woods and Kayla Braxton as the hosts… However, somebody did not know this and that happened to be Xavier Woods. So, he wasn't there because nobody told him. So, when he wasn't there and they had to do a show they asked Miz at the last minute to do the show."
