On this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE revealed Rey Mysterio and Aleister Black weren't dead despite being thrown off the roof of Titan Towers. Instead of plummeting to their deaths, they landed on a secondary roof and were so healthy they teamed together against a dishevelled Seth Rollins and Murphy.

The match received praise from fans but it ended abruptly after Seth Rollins was disqualified for attacking Mysterio. This confused many as both competitors were part of the match.

Bryan Alvarez reached out to WWE, however, and he confirmed on Wrestling Observer Live that The Monday Night Messiah was disqualified because of a secret Vince McMahon rule. A long-established rule within a tag team match is that both Superstars can be in the ring together at the same time for five seconds and they can attack whoever they want. This rule did not apply to Rollins, however, who was DQ'd because he attacked The Master Of The 619 outside of those five seconds.

Alvarez said: "I later find out that there is, in fact, a secret rule. It's a Vince McMahon rule… Outside of that five seconds, if you're not the legal man you cannot touch the other team's legal man and Vince is adamant that this be enforced. So, if you're legal you are allowed to hit the other team's illegal man, but the illegal man cannot touch the legal man. So, Rey, because he's legal, is allowed to hit Seth on the apron but Seth on the apron is not allowed to hit Rey."

He later added: "Legal can hit illegal, but illegal cannot hit legal, but illegal can hit illegal. So, Vince is so adamant about this rule that like when the wrestlers put together matches there are spots that they want to do but they can't because it will violate this rule… Even though I said all that, you're still allowed to break up a pin."
