WALTER's scheduled WWE NXT UK Championship defence next week against Ilja Dragunov after the reigning champion sustained an injury.

WALTER and Dragunov opened this week's NXT UK on Thursday by signing the contract for their Championship match next week, before taking part in a press conference inside BT Studios.

With WWE promoting the bout, it was then later announced that the two men had got into a backstage altercation. As a result of the exchange, WALTER had sustained a hand injury and would not be deemed fit enough to compete next week.

It was then confirmed that the WWE NXT UK Title match would be postponed until a later date.

PWInsider is reporting that the injury to WALTER that was mentioned on television is indeed a legitimate one, and there is not yet any word on how long the 33-year-old may be out.

WALTER and Dragunov competed in a highly-praised Championship match back in October. Although WALTER retained the title, Dragunov has been desperate for another shot, although he will now need to wait a little longer to face an NXT UK Champion who has held the belt for over 800 days.
