Report: Update On WWE Talent Sent Back To NXT
What is going on with Commander Azeez?
Oct 17, 2022
An update on an NXT talent has emerged.
Commander Azeez was previously on Monday Night Raw but he was moved back to NXT in June of 2022 after his former partner Apollo Crews made his own return to the developmental brand. Unlike Crews, though, Azeez has not resurfaced on NXT TV.
Instead, Azeez was briefly aligned with Cora Jade at NXT house shows, even teaming with the former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion in July for a loss to Ivy Nile and Sanga. Azeez was then in action again on October 14 in Largo, Florida, teaming with Grayson Waller against Apollo Crews and Hank Walker.
Despite that recent house show match, it doesn't appear Azeez's absence from TV will end anytime soon. When Fightful Select asked about Commander Azeez, they weren't told of any imminent plans for the former Dabba-Kato.
The former Babatunde has previously had multiple runs on the main roster, with his most sustained stint coming as Commander Azeez. He received a big return, helping Apollo Crews win the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 37. They soon became a tag team after Crews dropped the Intercontinental Title to Shinsuke Nakamura.
