The fans in San Juan, Puerto Rico went wild on Saturday, May 6 during WWE's Backlash pay-per-view as Carlito, as part of the Latino World Order, made his return to the company and made the save for Bad Bunny and Rey Mysterio during the award-winning rapper's Street Fight against Damian Priest. Carlito immediately took out Finn Balor with a Backstabber and bit into an apple before he helped clear Judgment Day out of the ringside area with Mysterio and Savio Vega.

While Carlito's return was warmly received in Puerto Rico and online, his appearance was only scheduled to be a one-off as of this past weekend, according to Fightful Select. The situation could change but he was not scheduled to have a longer run when Backlash took place.

WWE were said to be very happy with Carlito's return and several backstage at Backlash noted how much the former Intercontinental Champion had matured since his run with the company between 2003 and 2010.

Carlito did make a brief WWE return in 2021, appearing in the Royal Rumble and teaming with Jeff Hardy to defeat Elias and Jaxson Ryker on the post-Rumble edition of Monday Night Raw. There have been a number of pitches over the past two years for Carlito to return on a part-time or full-time basis.

The man himself appears to be interested in a WWE return, telling Metro that he was open to any offers only days before Backlash.
