Report: Update on Brock Lesnar’s WWE Contract Status
The Beast Incarnate hasn’t been seen since WrestleMania 36
May 12, 2021
Brock Lesnar is officially a free agent, but isn’t going to appear in AEW any time soon, according to a report from Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer.
When asked about the possibility of Lesnar re-appearing at WWE SummerSlam, Meltzer said the following:
"I have not heard [about SummerSlam]. I would have thought he would be at WrestleMania, but he's not under contract ... he is not going to AEW, I mean, he's just not. I suppose [SummerSlam is] possible, but I have not heard any whispers in that direction."
Lesnar hasn’t been seen in WWE since dropping the WWE Title to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36 Night Two last March, with his contract expiring shortly after.
WWE still see Lesnar as their top draw, and as WWE events are still without live fans - WrestleMania aside - there is very little point in bringing Lesnar back. WWE have paid Lesnar handsomely since his 2012 return, and even if AEW did approach Brock with an offer, WWE would likely waste no time in blowing it out of the water in an attempt to keep a firm grip on their prized asset.
Lesnar is also 43 years old, has made a lot of money, and has the ball firmly in his court regarding contract negotiations and working schedule, so even if WWE wanted Lesnar back ASAP, it’d likely only happen if Lesnar wanted it to happen.
