WWE promos have been fully scripted for a while now - almost down to the last syllable depending on who you speak to.

It hasn't been like this forever, however, as Vince McMahon would famously give the likes of Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin a list of bullet points they would have to hit throughout a promo. Vince would then trust performers of that ilk to go out and convey the messages he wanted them to in their own unique way.

According to this week's

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

, WWE might have started the process to make scripted promos a thing of the past.

Dave Meltzer

has noted that the promos done by Bayley, Sasha Banks and Rey Mysterio on this week's Raw used the old bullet point style of years gone by.

For the avoidance of any doubt, here's what this week's

WON

is reporting: "Bayley, Banks and Mysterio’s promos on Raw were all done without being scripted word-for-word, basically the old bullet points style and going for it. There is a movement to try and do more of that going forward, similar to the leeway that Owens (and I believe Bryan but that hasn’t been told to me directly) get on Smackdown and why his promos, if not both of theirs, come off better than almost anyone."
