Report: Reason WWE Won't Grant Mustafa Ali's Release Request Revealed
Ali has asked for his release and turned down a spot in the men's Royal Rumble match
Feb 14, 2022
Back on January 16 Mustafa Ali publically revealed that he had asked for his release from WWE.
However, since then, Fightful has learned that the company does not intend to grant it.
Fightful are back with the latest on the Ali situation, leaning via WWE sources that the company still has "value" in the former Retribution leader - despite the fact he hasn't been used on TV since a much publicised argument with Vince McMahon over his creative direction.
In fact, Mustafa's last match took place on the October 29 episode of SmackDown where he lost to Drew McIntyre in a match that only lasted two minutes.
It would appear that there is a chance that Ali will sit out the remainder of his WWE deal, as he tweeted "I'll see ya all in like 2 1/2 years" on Saturday.
Fightful also report that "at least one talent pitched an idea for Mustafa Ali to eliminate them (from the Royal Rumble), and were posed with the question if Ali would even be interested."
Ali tweeted on January 29: "no, i would not like to be in rumble. i would like my release."
