Report: Possible Reason WWE Has Not Cancelled WrestleMania 36 Revealed
It's all about the money...
Mar 16, 2020
As of writing, WrestleMania 36 is less than one month away and will be broadcast live from Raymond James stadium in Tampa, Florida. The chances of The Showcase Of The Immortals going ahead as planned look bleak, however. Fans from 28 European countries will be unable to travel to the United States in time for Mania, which will leave noticeable gaps in the stadium, county officials have also said they will probably "pull the plug" on the event by March 19 and the CDC has recommended all gatherings of over 50 people be cancelled.
The reason WWE has not scrapped Mania was seemingly revealed by Bryan Alvarez on yesterday's episode of Wrestling Observer Live. Alvarez reported that he had been told by people close to WWE that Tampa had to cancel The Grandest Stage Of Them All to allow the company to claim on an insurance policy. Alvarez did note, however, that he did not know if this was 100 percent true, but this is what he has been told by people close to WWE.
Alvarez said: "I have heard from more and more people very close to WWE who are telling me the reason this thing has not been cancelled or postponed is an insurance reason. The city needs to cancel, they need to prevent WrestleMania from happening for WWE to collect on an insurance policy. That is the information that I have been given from several people. Now, I don't know if this is true or not but these people are close to WWE and that's what they're saying."
