While The New Day hadn't competed in a multi-man match at The Show Of Shows since WrestleMania 34 when Big E and Kofi Kingston challenged for the SmackDown Tag Team Title, that was set to change this year.

According to Fightful Select, plans were in place for The New Day to team together as a trio to take on Sheamus, Ridge Holland and Butch (Pete Dunne).

Kingston and Big E teamed together to take on the team of Sheamus and Ridge Holland on Friday's episode of SmackDown, seemingly to kick off the feud, but E suffered a serious injury and fractured his neck in two places following an Overhead Belly To Belly Suplex from Holland.

Doctors have noted Big E will be on the shelf for at least the next three months if he is able to continue his in-ring career which ultimately means the planned six-man tag would have to be scrapped.

If WWE will push ahead with just a straight tag team match remains to be seen.
