Report: Frustrations Growing Within WWE Over Handling Of The Women's Division
The current state of WWE’s women’s division reportedly stoking frustration
Aug 4, 2023
The state of WWE’s women’s division has quietly been concerning fans for several months, with a perceived lack of screen-time and meaningful feuds played out on WWE TV, especially compared to years past.
It seems as though such frustrations have boiled over into the company itself, especially in the wake of a women's division match being pulled from WWE SummerSlam 2023 on August 5, with Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus axed from the card.
A tweet from WRKD Wrestling suggests that there are indeed growing frustrations backstage with the handling of the women’s division, with Twitter activity from the likes of Rhea Ripley seemingly suggesting as much.
After the lows of the Divas era, WWE sought to properly push and build its women’s division, with the women-only Evolution PPV, and the main event of WrestleMania 35 solidifying WWE’s commitment to the division.
Whilst women’s matches have still been pushed to main event levels, the week-by-week screen-time for the division has seemingly decreased, whilst booking for all but a handful of top names has seemed a little scattershot.
