Reports have emerged that writer George Carroll Jr. is believed to have joined the writing staff of NXT.

Per a report from PWInsider, Carroll was at the most recent NXT taping on Tuesday, indicating that he has or is joining the Black and Gold brand’s writer’s room.

While the name may not strike a chord with most wrestling fans, Carroll has been entrenched in the pro-wrestling industry for the best part of a decade, working with New England Championship Wrestling, Combate Americas MMA, a stint as NJPW’s Director of USA Operations, MLW’s Senior Talent Coordinator, and most notably as a writer and content producer for Ring of Honor from 2012 - 2016.

With NXT having a perceived creative ‘drop off’ in the eyes of fans and critics alike in 2020 and 2021, it is encouraging to see WWE bringing new names to the dance, especially ones with a wrestling background rather than the general television writers that have populated Raw and SmackDown’s writer’s rooms in recent years.
